Summary:

The US Steam deal cuts Streets of Rage 4 to $6.24. This guide explains the separate Mr. X Nightmare DLC, two-player online versus four-player local co-op, and the date-only November 18 deadline.

Streets of Rage 4 is $6.24 on US Steam, down 75% from $24.99. The standalone game is the inexpensive route into this hand-drawn arcade brawler, especially if you have a friend ready to join you. Steam lists the offer as ending November 18.

Choose the base game or the DLC bundle

The $6.24 purchase excludes Mr. X Nightmare. Steam also lists a base-game-plus-DLC bundle for $8.85, which is $2.61 more for a new buyer. Check the contents and your account's displayed total before choosing: the separately listed Ultimate Edition also includes a soundtrack and costs more.

Dotemu's official game guide and press kit distinguishes the versions clearly. The base game has five main playable fighters and unlockable retro characters. Mr. X Nightmare adds Estel Aguirre, Max Thunder and Shiva, plus Survival mode and character-customization moves. The free training and balance updates are separate from that paid expansion.

A good fit for a short co-op session

Streets of Rage 4 focuses on side-scrolling fights, enemy positioning and learning each fighter's moves. Its hand-drawn characters and environments give it a different look from the original trilogy while keeping the street-brawling format.

You can play alone, with one other player online, or with up to four players locally. That distinction matters when organizing a group: four-player couch play does not mean four-player online co-op. Story, Arcade, Battle and Training modes give the base game several ways to play before considering the expansion.

Reviews and compatibility

At the November 7 check, Steam's English-language rating was Very Positive, with 93% of 7,112 reviews positive. Recent reviews were 88% positive across 54 reviews.

The developers recommend a controller. Check the requirements for your operating system before buying, particularly on older machines: the game's Windows specification mentions Windows 7, but Steam's client requires Windows 10 or later.
