**Summary:**

Subnautica – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is 75% off on the US eShop. Here are the exact offer, free-upgrade caveat and current performance-mode limitations.

**Subnautica – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is $7.49 on the US Nintendo eShop, down 75% from $29.99.** The offer was checked on October 27, 2026. Nintendo lists an end time of November 1 at 06:59 UTC—1:59 a.m. Central Daylight Time, immediately before that morning’s US clock change.

This is the first Subnautica adapted for Nintendo Switch 2, not the separate sequel Subnautica 2. For newcomers, the discount makes a substantial survival adventure inexpensive to try. Existing Switch owners should check the free upgrade route before paying again.

## Why this particular discount is worth a look

The attraction is not simply a large percentage beside a price. Subnautica turns exploration into a sequence of decisions: whether to keep collecting resources, return for oxygen, or use newly built equipment to investigate somewhere previously unreachable. Its underwater setting gives familiar crafting and base-building systems a clear purpose. You are preparing for the next dive rather than collecting upgrades without direction.

That makes it a better fit for players who enjoy self-directed discovery than those seeking a heavily guided campaign or immediate action. The low entry price does not remove the need to learn survival systems, and the ocean’s hostile creatures can make exploration tense.

There is relevant review support for this edition, rather than only an inherited reputation from PC. [WayTooManyGames awarded the Switch 2 version 8.0/10 on April 17, 2026](https://waytoomany.games/2026/04/17/review-subnautica-switch-2/), while also noting frame-rate drops and long initial loading. That is one critic’s assessment, not an aggregate score or our own testing.

## Check the free upgrade first

[Unknown Worlds’ February 11 announcement](https://unknownworlds.com/en/news/subnautica-below-zero-switch-2) says existing Switch owners can obtain the Switch 2 upgrade free. Its instructions are to download and update the original version on Switch 2, open the corresponding store listing, select the upgrade pack, and choose the free download. New buyers should choose the complete edition; owners should verify their upgrade eligibility instead of repurchasing the game.

## Performance settings matter more than a headline number

The edition arrived on February 17, so this is a current sale on an existing release—not a new launch. Unknown Worlds subsequently added three graphics presets in its [July 21 update](https://unknownworlds.com/en/news/subnautica-below-zero-switch-2-update): Balanced, High Framerate and High Quality. The first targets up to 60 fps; the second sacrifices shadows and resolution for performance; the third uses a 30 fps target with higher visual settings.

Those are the developer’s stated modes, not evidence that every scene maintains its target. The April review also predates that update. We have not tested the current build, so buyers sensitive to frame pacing should weigh that limitation rather than read the discount as a performance endorsement.

The verified deal here is Nintendo’s US offer. We are not claiming a historical low or the cheapest price worldwide. Pricing and availability can change; the final checkout price takes precedence over this dated snapshot.
