A kingdom built one block at a time
Drop Duchy uses a familiar falling-block shape language for a different kind of strategy puzzle. You place terrain and buildings to collect resources, recruit soldiers and prepare for battles. Where a piece lands matters as much as whether it fits: neighboring terrain can make a building more productive, and the army you assemble must survive what comes next.
Between encounters, branching routes and new cards let you develop a run around different combinations. The deckbuilding layer adds buildings and other tools to your options, while persistent unlocks give later attempts more possibilities. The base game includes three factions: the Duchy, the Republic and the Order.
That makes this a particularly relevant deal for players who enjoy planning compact systems, experimenting with card combinations and restarting with a different approach. It is a single-player strategy game rather than a competitive block-stacking game or a conventional real-time city builder.
Start with the base game or buy the bundle?
The $5.99 purchase is the straightforward entry point. Steam also lists a Drop Duchy Complete Edition bundle for $12.71, containing the base game, The Tribe and The North expansions, and the soundtrack. Those extras are separate from the base-game offer.
If you are trying Drop Duchy for the first time, the cheaper base game lets you explore its core factions and card systems first. The larger bundle is worth comparing if you already want the additional factions and music. Check the items and your account-specific bundle price before purchasing, especially if you already own part of the collection.
